Unified Health Insurance Company

Since then, Unified has been wholly owned and operated by William Buchanan and his family. Buchanan has spent more than fifty years in the insurance industry and is highly regarded by his peers. Unified life is primarily a reinsurer, taking on the financial risks of other insurance companies. Unified Life is also in the business of buying other insurance companies. One such acquisition recently occurred as Unified bought the Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company, formerly of Glenview, Illinois. Responsibility for all outstanding Guarantee policies was assumed by Unified as of December 31, 2010. All the benefits and terms of the former Guarantee policies remain exactly the same. Guarantee policyholders will make payments to and file claims with Unified Life through their administrative offices in Overland Park, Kansas.

Unified Life Customer Service

With the addition of Guarantee’s book of business, Unified Life now serves over 200,000 insurance clients coast to coast. Unified promises friendly and courteous service to all of its many clients, the same quality service they grew to expect from the various companies who originally sold them their insurance policies.

The only other information the company website provides is a convenient forms page, where clients may access common notices, statements, federal tax forms, and claims forms.

Unified Life Ratings

A.M. Best rates Unified Life as “good, B++.” Unified meets the criteria of a category five insurance company with annual revenues in the $10 to $25 million range.

Unified Life Community Service

Unified Life remains committed to the community it serves by sponsoring many worthwhile organizations and charitable groups. One such group is Kansas City Express, a running club for women. Each year Unified sponsors a Mother’s Day 5-kilometer race promoting health and fitness for women. This past year, more than 3,000 female runners participated.

“I thought I would be able to go to the Dr, after two years of not seeing how my COPD has progressed since 2013 when I lost my Tn care.

Unified is supposed to take $178 out of my check this next payday and then $79 a month. No deductibles, Aetna is supposed to cover eyes and dental.

If what you are saying here is I will pay my money and get nothing I better go to the bank and get the transaction canceled. Which puts me back being uninsured once again. At 59 years old, single, working as much as possible for $9. an hour. with COPD and not meds.

How can any company be so sorry to trick children and seniors? They seemed to be my answer. Glad I came here before they got my money. Thanks”

“I have made several attempts to cancel coverage by phone and by written notification to this company, as I started a new job, which included full medical coverage. I was informed by the sales rep that is was NOT a discount insurance plan and I could cancel at any time.

The company continues to extract a monthly amount from my bank account after several attempts to stop coverage. My next step is to go the bank and pay a substantial fee to block payment.

I plan to contact the Better Business Bureau as well and hope that others that have been had unpleasant experiences with this company do the same.”

“This company is a SCAM. The so-called broker does bait And switch…then will say this is a top 10 health insurance.

First, he will ask how much you want to pay per month like you are on a car lot. Then he says hold on, let me find you the best quote. If you say that Unified does not sound familiar he will say it’s one of the best. What rock do they think people live under? It sounds like he is reading from a script. He’s a can man for real. The prices are too good to be true.

I said let me do my research about this company. They are too quick to offer you insurance and take a payment and enroll effective midnight. No legitimate health insurance company does that. There is an underwriting period that has to be done…don’t go for it. I came here and saw everything I suspected.

Do not deal with them! They are the worst kind of con artists. Glad I did not give them any money or information about my money.”

“I was given this info on this insurance to start a new plan with no deductible and low monthly payments, due to my multiple prescriptions. As I read these comments I don’t think I want to be apart of the plan.

I was hung up on not once but twice before because the reps didn’t take the time out to confirm if my disability was work or government? They didn’t care. they just said they didn’t do disability and hung up which was a rude way of handling the call to me. I called back the third time to finally get in and now this. What a mess.

I’m glad I read all this before I gave my money, especially since you all are saying it is hard to get your money back. Oh my goodness, that is just horrible. Thanks. I will not be going with this provider. No way, no how. Should have known, it sounded too good.

I guess the saying is true that everything that glitters, isn’t gold. I have too many medical conditions to be messing around with not being able to find a doctor or provider because of an insurance nobody ever heard of. Not cool guys. Not cool at all.”

The rep had told me if my family and myself were healthy, this would be the perfect plan for me. I would be 100% covered on the well visits for my 5-year-old and routine check-ups for myself and son.

After paying 6 months worth of premiums, I took my 5-year-old for her well visit. I When I called Unified, after being billed for the well visit, I was transferred multiple times to different representatives and then told that my plan did not cover well visits or check ups at 100%.

This company is a complete scam. I had to call 7 times to cancel. They would not send me a cancellation email and I had to promptly stay on the phone until my email was written and sent. They took over $500 of my money, and no doctor had ever heard of them. I tried looking for a list of physicians online that took this insurance and I could not find one in the state of South Carolina. I was lied to and told that this insurance would cover my medical visits but it doesn’t really cover anything at all. You pay for insurance and still end up with 100 percent of the doctor bill. Because I can’t trust that my account is really closed after calling 7 times, I had to also notify my bank to stop all of their withdrawals out of my account and I had to get a new debit card. This company has caused me loss of sleep and a lot of stress. I normally see scams a mile away but they seemed legit and looked legit but the true colors show when you really need them. You pay a lot (about 179 a month) and GET NOTHING IN RETURN! At the end of the day, you’ll pay 100% of all your medical fees and have no insurance.

This company is a scam; On Friday, 11/4/2020, I spoke with an agent named Chris; I inquired about a PPO health insurance policy and he quoted one for $334.51/month. This is an excellent price since I currently pay over $800/month, as I as a retiree and not old enough for Medicare. As a bonus to the policy there is a $35,000 life policy. On Monday, 11/7/2020, I called my Primary doctor and my eye specialist to see if they accepts this policy and both said, “No, they do not accept the plan.” I called Chris and explained they do not accept the Unified Insurance Plan. Chris told me that I need to ask about the Multi-level plan not Unified. All said and done, my doctors do not accept this Multi-level plan. I have tried multiple times to reach Chris at the number he provided and no response; actually, someone picks up and then immediately disconnects the call. I went an email to the web site requesting cancellation, received response all requests are answered in the order received. As of this date, 12/04/2020, NO ONE RESPONDED and yet they haven’t taken money from my account. I even put a stop payment for SBLI USA Life Insurance Company, but to no avail. On 12/03/2020; a company affiliated with them (gmemberbill.com) withdrew money from my account. I have called their number that’s on my statement and just a voicemail asking me to leave a message and phone number. Imagine that……..DO NOT GET TRICKED INTO PURCHASING THIS POLICY, AFTER THEY TAKE YOU INITIAL PAYMENT AND GET YOUR BANKING INFORMATION, YOU CAN NOT REACH THEM.
