In 2011, Allstate announced its plan to sell Allstate Bank (online banking services and deposit instruments) to Discover Financial Services. Allstate purchased Esurance in 2011 as well as Answer Financial insurance agency from White Mountains Insurance Group for almost $1 billion. Answer Financial and Esurance operate entirely online.
