AmeriChoice and Government Health Insurance

In the past, Medicare and Medicaid were known for their poor quality health care. However, since AmeriChoice has become a factor in government health insurance, this company has changed the way that these programs provide health insurance.
Run more like a traditional private health insurance company, AmeriChoice makes low income families feel as if they are the benefiting from paid service rather than free service.
Healthcare can be very expensive and many people look to the government to help negate the cost of this expensive care. Medicare and Medicaid programs help to fill that void between poverty and insurance, especially for the elderly and the young.

How to Apply for AmeriChoice Health Insurance

AmeriChoice offers programs through a contract with your state government that provides free or reduced rate health insurance for you and members of your family.
It is important to realize that not everyone will qualify for these programs. The priority age groups for these programs are children and the elderly; however, those who fall under the very low-income level will find that they qualify as well, regardless of their age.
Many people are not aware that they qualify for a health insurance program of this nature. Millions of people go without health insurance, something that can be a financial disaster if they become ill or injured. While the state is very strict about income levels, applying for these programs are free and anyone in the low income range should consider applying whether they think they qualify or not.

Cheap AmeriChoice Health Insurance Benefits

AmeriChoice provides comprehensive low or no cost insurance to those who qualify. Because your state wants all children to have healthcare, even if you are not a low-income family, your children can qualify for the low cost insurance option as long as they are in school (outside of college). The low cost option is typically based on your income; however, the out of pocket expense usually maxes out at $20 per month. This is a very affordable option for families that make too much to qualify for government programs, but cannot afford health insurance for their children.
The free AmeriChoice program either has a no or very low co-payment option for office visits and prescriptions. This is based on your income level as well and can range from $1 to $10 depending on where your income level falls compared to the size of your family.

“I don’t know the plan and am shopping for one.

I think it is asinine to rate an organization a one star and ask if one’s husband qualified for the plan. So I feel I need to counter-rate to avoid misleading others who are seeking guidance.

Come on, Ms. Breaux. What are you thinking!”

“Americhoice misleads the individual by having United Healthcare appear in bold letters on their id card and americhoice in very small letters at the bottom of the card. At best this is an innocent error at worst it should constitute fraud.

If you tell a doctors office you have United healthcare and make an appointment you will invariably find out that they are not an americhoice provider. You should check out their website for participating providers before making an appointment. Even this is not a guarantee because they have expired/retired doctors on the website as participating”

“Many of the doctors listed do not take new patients with this insurance. Tried to get a PCP that was listed but they only take new patients with other insurances. This insurance pays almost nothing to the doctors so many will not take new patients.

And being on disability I can not afford to pay a doctor in full. The only reason I have this insurance is because it is better than none at all and it’s all I can afford.”

“I didn’t have a choice in this insurance and they better be glad I didn’t, I have to have both of my knees replaced and they only have 3 surgeons listed, two are in the same office about fifty miles away and one is retired, all have a Heath screen rating of 2 with 1 being the lowest.

I’m not about to let some flunky operate on me doing such a complicated surgery, one guy said they even let him get a very nasty infection in his knee and they had to scrape it out three times, that scares the crap out of me.

My knees have no cartilage left and the pain is unreal, but I don’t know what to do.”
